Dave Maddlone, Head Groundskeeper/Director/Co-founder - Contact Dave

Inspired by the 1998 film "Saving Private Ryan" , and the 2001 HBO mini-series "Band of Brothers", beginning in 2004, and continuing for 15 years into 2018, at his own expense, Maddlone created 42 replica monuments from the American Cemetery in Normandy, in Atlanta Georgia, USA, as the Atlanta D-Day Memorial. The purpose was to recreate a small section of the American Cemetery in Normandy, so local WWII veterans who could not make the trip to Normandy could still experience a sense of the actual cemetery locally. Dave met many WWII veterans who shared their experiences and memories, planting a seed of indebtedness within him for all veterans who served our nation. Through the Memorial experience, Dave saw that most of WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War veterans were bypassed regarding diagnoses of PTSD/MI and lacked effective therapies for the condition. While not a veteran himself, Dave sought to give back to those who gave so much and after 36 years with Emory University, he launched the concept of Tranquility Base USA to serve those who served. Beyond Veterans, the range of support has expanded to include First Responders and Healthcare Workers, as the full scope of the devastating effects of Healthcare Workers burdened with PTSd/MI has become evident in our most frequently taken for granted groups in domestic service.

Terry Maddlone, Planning Director/Co-founder - Contact Terry

Bride of Dave Maddlone, and co-founder of Tranquility Base USA, Terry brings a rich background of experience in hospitality, and event planning logistics to the Board of Directors. In the early 2000s, Terry singlehandedly was responsible for the Wednesday Night Supper at Clairmont Hills Baptist Church (now Bridgepoint Church at Toco Hills) which provided meals for 60+ people each week. Terry did all the meal planning, food ordering, and cooking/preparation of each meal, keeping at or below the budget of $4.00 per meal. Terry was also a co-owner and manager of a pizzeria over four years, and is therefore well versed in food preparation and providing satisfying meals for large numbers of people with varying dietary needs. Terry is also experienced in major event planning and fundraising, having been responsible for the coordination of the VIP tent for the BellSouth Classic (now the Atlanta Classic) golf tournament for several years running. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Terry provided weekly meals for 8-12 needy families from 2019 through 2022, absorbing all the expense so the recipients pay nothing for a weekly minimum of 2 meals per person in each household.
